Each class provides the students with the opportunity to share their ideas and experiences while learning words, phrases, and dialogues related to the topics. The objective of this course is for students to acquire the skills and confidence needed to communicate in English in both academic and non-academic settings.

【１学期,3～4年,a,1単位,,共通講義棟1号館102室】この授業の目的は主張・見解を英語で説得的に述べる能力を、主に学術的なプレゼンテーションの作法を学ぶこととその実践を通して発展させることです。おおまかな授業内容としては以下になります。１学期は短めの文章の翻訳と500語の小論文の執筆・発表とを準備として行い、次に何らかの意見やアーギュメントを学術的に出す上での議論の組み立て方のポイントを押さえ(ないしは復習し)つつ、ACLを挟んで、500語のアウトラインを実際に執筆・発表してもらいます。２学期にはアウトラインの発表後、議論を彫琢した上で2000語程度の原稿を仕上げ、再度発表するということをします。単に発表だけでなく、司会をつとめたり、質問をしたりそれに応答したりといったことも行います。教材は教員がプリントしたものを配布します。

【１学期,3～4年,f,1単位,,共通講義棟1号館204室】ECIII (1) is a comprehensive upper-intermediate to advanced level (TOEIC 600-800) course which seeks to develop students' speaking, listening, reading, and discussion skills, and develop students' vocabulary, pronunciation and knowledge of grammar through the use of authentic materials which will be provided in class. Students will be expected to prepare reading and listening activities in advance, speak actively during class, and provide weekly reflections on the class topic. For the ALH activity, students will also be expected to prepare a presentation on a topic of their own interest relevant to the course in English to share the following week. Exam-based TOEFL/TOEIC/IELTS materials may also be included in the class if deemed relevant.

【３学期,3～4年,B,1単位,,共通講義棟1号館404室】This course aims to improve students' overall English proficiency with an emphasis on oral communication. Students will have various in-class discussions to reflect on and analyze a variety of complex issues and topics, which are presented in the textbook in a reader-friendly manner. Students are required to prepare their views on designated topics to actively participate in the discussions. For the ALH, students will prepare a presentation to be given at the end of the semester.
