【１学期,1～4年,b,1単位,,共通講義棟1号館302室】This is an advanced English course that mainly aims to develop students’ discussion, research, and presentation skills. The class revolves around two themes this semester: culture and media literacy. Students will read the assigned text as preparation for each class. In class, students will check their comprehension and participate in group discussions. Students will have ample opportunities for group work, including discussions and presentations. Students will also learn and be assigned to write two short reaction papers as well. The ultimate goal of this course is to equip students with essential skills for studying abroad by simulating the experience.

In the course the students engage in group discussions on a range of social and political issues, while also learning useful discussion language and topic-specific vocabulary.

【２学期,1～4年,c,1単位,,共通講義棟1号館403室】Each of these topics are fun, interesting, and meaningful, and weekly lessons encourages active, passionate classroom discussion. Classes are ideal for enhancing speaking, listening, reading, writing, presentation, debate skills, and comprehensive critical- and creative-thinking exercises. Many of these topics are “personal” topics from the health, psychological, and evolutionary life sciences that are inspiring and relevant, and focus on the self to help prepare students for real life.

The theme of this semester is Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students will read the assigned text and/or watch the assigned video clip as preparation for each class. In class, students will check their comprehension and participate in discussions. Students will have ample opportunities for group work, including discussions and group projects. Students will also learn and be assigned to write short reaction papers of the text as well. The ultimate goal of this course is to equip students with essential skills for studying abroad by simulating the experience.

【４学期,1～4年,c,1単位,,共通講義棟1号館401室】The aim of course is for students to learn and discuss about various issues and developments relating to the history and culture of English speaking regions. In this semester we will focus specifically on the British Empire. Students will give presentations based on assigned readings and lead class discussions.

【１学期,1～4年,文特a,1単位,,共通講義棟1号館202室】The general target for learning is improvement of students' ability to produce formal English and academic English both in writing and in speaking and to understand the reasons for choices between alternate ways of expressing ideas in English. The features and conventions of several popular writing genera will also be covered.
